Not so sure I agree with your police work there , Jan (as in a great line from my favorite movie, Fargo), I do believe Emily Andersen wrote the words and won the school contest for words to our new school song... which replaced "Colors are flying, come on gold and blue....keep up the team work... etc. etc. Band director Alex Heron (so the story goes) did not like the "old" song as when other schools asked for the music, it was only available in junior high level band books. How embarrassing was that? Another great school song memory... was Reno Rossini's chemistry class quiz... Students were required to write down the words to the (new) school song. I got it 99% correct except for spelling in the last line...."the victory is ONE" (rather than WON). Coach Reno was not thrilled as the football team was struggling and I was a cross country runner. An unintended foopah. Sorry Reno..
BTW.... If we can't get a traditional reunion organized, why doesn't someone just pick a date for us all to take over the back room at Mannings (2200 Como Ave SE Mpls) beginning at noon until???? some summer afternoon? Dutch treat, nothing provided, just a good time with cold beer, free pop corn and best burgers around?
Hi! Sue Lindgren is correct. The school song was to the tune of "Navy Blue and Gold." I believe that Marilyn (Neubrand) Kabes wrote the words....."For Murray High we give a cheer hurrah for blue and gold......."
